Crimewatch
Crimewatch Our government not only gave us a false reason for invading Iraq, it also pretended to have advice the invasion would be legal. Turns out this was hooey too, and apparently made up to placate people like the head of the army:

What was served up to parliament as the view of the attorney general turned out to be the view of two of the closest aides of the prime minister. Robin Cook
Although it claimed to have the support of its legal adviser, the government was so concerned by the dubiousness of the invasion it planned that it briefed a legal team to defend it from charges of war crimes. This should not go to waste. It only remains now to indict Anthony Blair in The Hague.
