On the nose
НОС
СОН
On the nose To the
Coliseum last night for the
Shostakovich on Stage festival and a performance of his first opera,
The Nose. This spectacular enactment of Gogol’s fantasy was Shostakovich’s first opera, and
Miki’s as well. Loving evocation of 1920s style with back projection and modernist Cyrillic typography. It turns out that the letters of
НОС (
nose) reversed spell
СОН (
dream). Dmitry with his
roido-megine: a real Teisho
mo-bo.
Полина, you shoulda been there.
