Sophia is the name the Greeks gave to the Muse who supported wisdom. From the Greek words for love and wisdom, we get philosophy.
In The Intelligent Person’s Guide to Philosophy, Roger Scruton wrote that the root of philosophy is the study of how to live well. So his book includes chapters on sex and music. (Scruton’s much-younger wife is called Sophie.)
